DAR to turnover P1.17-M flood control project in San Enrique Wednesday

The flood control project, which will directly benefit 1,224 recipient-households of the two barangays, is aimed at addressing the flood problem in the town with areas that are mostly low-lying.
Based on the project brief, it comprises dredging of rivers and creek and stone masonry construction. The flood control project specifically targets to normalize or ease the flow of water from accumulating in farmlands and residential areas, it added.
Of the P1.17 million total project cost, the local government of San Enrique has a counterpart of P50,000.
DAR-Negros Island Region Director Stephen Leonidas will lead the turnover and acceptance ceremonies to be held at the boundaries of Baliwagan and Sibucao.
DAR Negros Occidental-South personnel headed by Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer Lucrecia Taberna, Municipal Government and barangay officials will also attend the activity.
The BUB process is one of the major reform initiatives of the government aimed at making the national agencies’ budgeting process more responsive to local needs.
It is also viewed as part of the democracy and empowerment reform as it opens another avenue for people’s participation in local planning and budgeting and for generating demand for good governance at the local level. (EPN)
