The Department of Agrarian Reform Negros Occidental 2 recently held a series of activities in celebration of Women's Month, at Nature's Village Resort in Talisay City.
The whole-day workshop Monday was participated in by about 200 female employees of DAR, and focused on women empowerment, a press release from the department said.
The Women's Month activity stressed the significance of women issues in the development of government policies, as emphasized in this year's theme “Kapakanan ni Juana, Isama sa Agenda”, Enrique Paderes, Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer I and Gender and Development program chair, said.
Police Officer 3 April Diamante, deputy chief of the Women and Children's Protection Desk of the Bacolod City Police Office, gave a talk on Republic Act 7877, or the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995, and RA 9262, or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004.
After the workshop, a “Make-over Para Kay Juana” was led by Grace Solon of Avon Philippines, who gave beauty tips to the participants.
Former DAR Region VI assistant regional director for Operations, Felicidad Bañares, shared her experiences, and encouraged the women to be more confident and make a difference.
A workshop on stress management was facilitated by psychometrician Harold Villanueva, and Renato Lacanilao, president of the Philippine Mental Health Association-Negros Occidental.*KBC
