NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, May 27 (PIA6) - - The Department of Agriculture – Negros II (South) holds high hopes for the passage of the Notice of Coverage (NOC) Extension Bill or House Bill 4296.
Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Lucrecia Taberna said that with the statement of the presumptive president Rodrigo Duterte, they are holding high hopes that the same will be reviewed and be approved even if certified as urgent by the present administration, Congress failed to pass it before elections.
Taberna said despite this, they still have sufficient landholdings to work out for 2016 with NOCs.
“The Land Acquisition and Distribution phase keeps on moving from one step to another in a 22-step process in order to reach the level of registration of the Certificate of Land Ownership Award,” Taberna added.
DAR II has 22,000 hectares up for land acquisition and distribution for this year.
According to Taberna, in terms of NOCs, with the Department of Justice Opinion #6 series of 2016 addressing clerical errors in the issuance of NOCs, it will increase workable landholdings for CARP coverage of DAR.
For support services, DAR II is set to distribute seven units of dump trucks on May 31 pending the complete documents from the Department of Budget and Management and proper turn-over of the same to the DAR regional office 6.
These trucks are part of DAR’s support services under the Common Service Facilities.
DAR II has already identified the seven Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organizations receiving one unit each. *(JCM/EAD-PIA6 Negros Occidental)
