DAR turning over dumptrucks to mark 28th CARP anniversary

visayan dailyIn line with the 28 th anniversary of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program, the Department of Agrarian Reform Negros Occidental 1 and 2 will turn over 16 brand new 10-wheeler JAC dump trucks to Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organizations at the Bacolod Pavillon Hotel in Bacolod City today.

The distribution is part of the Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity Economic Support Services Program aimed to increase farm productivity, the income of ARBs and to sustain their livelihood through the provision of support services, Regional Director Stephen Leonidas, of DAR-Negros Island Region said.

Nine North Negros ARBOs will receive brand new 10-wheeler dump trucks, with seven for South Negros ARBOs, he said. The turnover will be with a motorcade at 7 a.m., followed by a mass, he said.

Governor Alfredo Marañon and Felix Perry Villanueva, DAR-Finance, Planning and Administration Office Undersecretary, are expected to join the turnover, he said.

A total of 538 ARBs will benefit from the nine trucks in North Negros, while 1,113 ARBS in South Negros for seven new trucks, he said.

He said the ARBOs that will receive the new vehicles are from Salvador Benedicato, Escalante, Calatrava, Cadiz, Talisay, Pontevedra, La Castellana and Kabankalan.

Leonidas also said DAR's mandate is to lead the implementation of CARP through land tenure improvement, agrarian justice, and coordinated delivery of essential support services to client-beneficiaries.*KBC
