P47-M infra projects benefit Antique farmers

news reg 2 pix 1 august 11 2016PROVINCE OF ANTIQUE (Aug. 11, 2016)— Agrarian Reform Undersecretary Herman Ongkiko handed the symbolic key of responsibility to Sta. Anna-San Joaquin (SASJ) Irrigators Association President Nelson Alvarez. The municipality of Pandan was one of the municipalities in Antique that will benefit from the P47 million support services packages from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR). The projects include the 4.2-kilometer Agdugayan-San Joaquin-Sta. Ana road in Ibajay and the SASJ communal irrigation in San Joaquin, Pandan which irrigates 46 hectares of farmlands. Also turned over was a post-harvest facility which can store 750 cavans of rice and is equipped with a 180 sqm. Solar dryer in Sta. Ana, Pandan. Direct beneficiaries of the projects are the 277 farming households of the SASJ agrarian reform community. 

The projects were implemented under the Agrarian Reform Infrastructure Support Projects (ARISP) and funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).news reg 2 pix 2 august 11 2016 

Also present were: ARISP National Project Manager Ma. Celerina Afable, DAR Regional Director Gideon Umadhay, Jica Project Advisor Kumiko Ogawa, Pandan Mayor Jonathan Tan, Pandan Vice Mayor Renato Tugon, Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officers Ludimar Capague and Marlyn Salvani.
