Negrenses’ help to Leyte continues

piaNEGROS OCCIDENTAL, Jan. 15 (PIA6) – Negrenses’ help never stopped for the victims of super typhoon Yolanda in Leyte.

The Department of Agrarian Reform-Negros Occidental 1 sent relief goods to Sitio Pasil, Barangay Palhi and Barangay Kabalasan, both in Baybay City in Leyte  before the New Year.

DAR- Neg.Occ I under Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Teresita Mabunay sent the goods through the Program Beneficiaries Development Division.

The distribution was conducted by the employees of DAR Neg.Occ. I sisters, Rizalina Varron Yuguing and Emma Varron who were originally from Kabalasan, Baybay City.

Yuguing, an Agrarian Reform Program Technologist, said the goods were donated by their colleagues in DAR which they sent through courier in Leyte which was later distributed to 58 beneficiaries.

50 packs were given to victims in Sitio Pasil and eight were given to those in Kabalasan.

Yuguing said that DAR’s presence there is unexpected by the recipients and they were touched by the fact that help from Negros reached them.

The Varrons, who are now based in Negros Occidental, celebrated the New Year with their families and relatives in Leyte and it was extra meaningful since they have helped their fellow Leyteños.

Relief packs included rice, canned goods, noodles, medicines and toiletries.*(JCM/EAD-PIA6 Negros Occidental)
