NEGROS OCCIDENTAL, Feb. 18 (PIA6) - - Four hundred thirty eight Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) are set to receive their Certificate of Land Ownership Award or CLOA from the Department of Agrarian Reform – Negros 1.
The ARBs of Barangay Alicante in E.B. Magalona town will receive their piece of land from DAR out of the 381 hectares of the Oscar Ledesma and Company Inc. landholdings.
These landholdings which were voluntarily offered for sale to the government through the DAR are owned by Eric High Quality Agro-Industrial Corporation with a total of 232.54 hectares; Holy Cross Investment Corporation with 218.98 hectares; and Oscar Ledesma and Company Inc. with 40.8 hectares.
Teresita Mabunay, Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II lauded the kind gestures of the landowners in voluntarily offering their lands for sale to the government.
“This is one monumental act of the landowners who give full support to the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program by voluntarily submitting their lands for re-distribution to their farmworkers. Now is one opportunity for us to award these lands to the ARBs and simultaneously install them peacefully,” Mabunay said.
DAR officials from Manila and the Regional Office in Iloilo City together with EB Magalona town Mayor David Albert Lacson and other officials are also expected to grace the awarding.*(JCM/EAD-PIA6/DAR Negros Occidental)
