DAR NegOcc. marks 26th year of CARP

piaNEGROS OCCIDENTAL, July 2 (PIA6) - - The Department of Agrarian Reform here celebrates 26th year of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program and the 5th year of the CARP with Extension and Reforms (CARPer) anniversaries with a bloodletting and basic life support training activities.

DAR 2 South together with the Philippine National Red Cross conducted their yearly bloodletting activity participated in by 19 personnel.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II LucreciaTaberna said that this Blood Letting activity is being held for the benefit of DAR personnel and their families that in times of need for blood donor immediately they can address without looking for one as a way of helping each other in the DAR family.

The Philippine National Red Cross is headed by Dr. Milagros B. Amana.

Meanwhile, the 4-Day Basic Life Support Training and First Aid was held at the Amity Public Safety Academy at the Panaad Park in Bacolod City.

This also forms part of the Gender and Development (GAD) activities of DAR.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II LucreciaTaberna said that this Blood Letting activity is being held for DAR personnel and for their family so that in times of immediate need for blood donor they can address it outright without having to look somewhere else.  She said this is one way they can help each other as One DAR Family.

The first batch of trainees is composed of DAR Personnel while the second batch is composed of personnel and agrarian reform beneficiaries.

The training aims to let the personnel know how to address and respond to any emergency.

“In the training we learned to be supportive, responsible and confident in giving assistance to others in need when it arises,” one participant commented.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer I Ronald Gareza said that even without formal medical training they can also share what they have learned to the ARBs when they are on the field, where distance and facilities delay access to health institutions. *(JCM/EAD-PIA6/DAR Negros Occidental)
