DAR 7 contracts P33.2-M worth of ARCCESS projects

piaCEBU CITY, Oct. 22 (PIA) --- The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Region 7 formally signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Professional Service Providers (PSPs) for implementation of projects worth P33.2 million held at Hotel Elizabeth, this city recently. 

The projects will benefit the Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOs) in Central Visayas on  Agri-Extension Services (AES), Business Management Services (BDS) and Progress and Process Monitoring (PPM) under the Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity and Economic Support Services (ARCCESS) program.

During the MOA signing, DAR-7 Regional Director Stephen M. Leonidas, CESO V, entered into a formal agreement with Foundation of Rural Enterprise and Ecology Development of Mindanao (FREEDOM), Inc.  as represented by its Deputy Executive Director Epimaco Galero, Jr.,  for a contract price of P4.156 M to provide Agri-Extension Services for the six lead ARBOs  in Bohol, and P 4.625 M for the 17 lead ARBOs in Negros Oriental.

To provide business development services, Siliman University led by its representative Vice -President for Development Jane Annette L. Belarmino,  signed a contract price of P 6.93 M to benefit 17 ARBOs in Negros Oriental and service provider First Consolidated Cooperative Along Seaboards in Tañon Strait (FCCT) as represented by its Chief Executive Officer Bernardo Desabelle, signed a P3.51M contract price for the six ARBOs in Bohol, and  P4.74M for the 9 ARBOs in Cebu.

To implement the Progress and Process Monitoring (PPM) projects,  Infoshare Management Systems signed a MOA as represented by its Chief Executive Officer Imelda Pangga with a contract price of P 1.698 M for the six sub-projects for the six lead ARBOs  in Bohol.

The All-Asian Centre for Enterprise Development Inc. (ASCEND Inc.) as represented by its President Atty. Rodrigo Celicious  signed  a contract price of P 2.52 M for the eight sub-projects for the 9 lead  ARBOs in Cebu;  and  Ateneo de Davao thru its Institute for Socio Economic Development Initiatives (ISEDI) as represented by its Executive Director Jocelyn E. Cabo also signed a contract price of P 4.052 M for the 12 sub-projects for the 17 ARBOs in Negros Oriental and P0.963M for three sub-projects for the 10 lead ARBOs  in Siquijor.

Dir. Leonidas challenged the service providers as their partners to improve the lives of our beneficiaries and manage effectively their agri-enterprises.  

DAR provides support services that will help the ARBs become viable entrepreneurs while the BDS is the capability building and technical assistance component that will help ARBs enterprises, farm management and business operations.

ARCCESS delivery is channeled through organizationally mature ARB organizations that will serve as hub or center of support services not only to the ARBO but other farmer’s organizations in the community.

Under ARCCESS program are Business Development Services (BDS), Agri-Extension Services (AES), Progress and Process Monitoring (PPM) that are components of professional services to improve farm-based income of ARBs and to reduce rural poverty. (rmn/hfg/Gay Visitacion of DAR-7/PIA Central Visayas)
