DAR Bohol turns over P0.5- million worth of farm equipment in Antequera

theboholstandard1The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Bohol recently turned-over three (3) units of hand tractors with farm implements worth P 526,647 to Bantolinao Multi-Purpose Cooperative (BMPC) for their coffee production in Antequera town.

DAR 7 Regional Director Stephen Leonidas said the turnover of the farm equipment was being implemented under the department’s Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity and Economic Support Services (ARCCESS) program. The project is part of the provision of Common Service Facilities (CSF) to the Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOs) to increase farm productivity and improve the net income of agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs).

Director Leonidas graced the turn-over ceremony of the CSF, and signing of the certificate of turn-over and acceptance held at BarangayBantolinao,Antequeraon October 22, 2014.

DAR 7 Assistant Regional Directors Antonio del Socorro and Eddie Agac-ac, Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer RemegiaNazareno, and members of BMPC witnessed the turnover and the signing of the trust agreement entered into by the DAR Provincial Office of Bohol as represented Grace Fua, Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II(PARPO) as the Grantor, and Chairperson Conrado Dagan of theBantolinaoMulti-Purpose Cooperative as the Grantee of the project.

Present during the occasion were Antequera Vice –Mayor Simeon Leo Jadulco, Mr. IsabelitoTongco, representative from the Office of the Governor Edgar Chatto, and Mr. Archie Lungayfrom the Office of 1st District Representative Rene Relampagos, Bantolinao Barangay Chairman ConradaPagod, DAR Bohol PARPO I Eddie Maguinsay, OIC Chief for Beneficiaries Development and Coordination Division, Engr. Leonard Cagampang and DAR provincial and municipal employees.Rev Fr. LeonilGrado blessed the farm equipment.

PARPO IIFua disclosed and said that Antequera town has been a recipient of the other agrarian reform projects aimed at improving the lives of the farmers.She said that DAR has turned over CSF to the BMPC one (1)unit Flat Bed Dryer with six tons holding capacity worth P 0.7 million last year. Recently, BMPC has been a recipient of ARCCESS projects in the provision of professional service for a combined total cost worth P 1.65 million of Agri-Extension Services (AES) and Business Development Services (BDS). The town has been a recipient of the World Bank-assisted Second Agrarian Reform Communities Development Project (ARCDP-2) project worth P 6.5 million of road rehabilitation of the 5.9 km Bicahan-Bantolinao road.

The said projects will benefit the BMPC with some 2,549 members with 647 ARB members who are beneficiaries of land reform.

Director Leonidas pointed-out that DAR is not only to distribute agricultural lands; there are other major programs under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) which is the delivery of agrarian justice of which DAR provide free legal assistance to Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) involved agrarian reform cases; and the delivery of support services, one of which the provision of these farming equipmentto ARBOs for use as business assets, for complementation with BDS and agri-extension services. He encouraged the farmers to take care of the farm equipment andmake use of it to increase their farm production.
