DAR provides Tulay Ng Pangulo Para Sa Kaunlarang Pang-Agraryo project in Bohol

boholstandardThe Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) officials attended a meeting with Bohol Governor Honorable Edgar Chatto for the implementation of Tulay Ng Pangulo Para Sa Kaunlarang Pang-Agraryo (TPKP) Project held at the Governor’s Mansion on November 13, 2104.

DAR officials led by Undersecretary Felix Perry Villanueva with DAR 7 Regional Director Stephen Leonidas were present during the coordination meeting. Other officials present were Assistant Regional Directors Antonio Del Socorro and Eddie Agac-ac, Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Grace Fua of DAR Bohol, OIC PARPO I Eddie Maginsay, acting Chief of the Beneficiaries Development and Coordination Division Engr. Leonard Cagampang, and other DPWH officials led by Engr. Faustino de la Cruz of DPWH Central Office, Engr. Felipe Mosquera, Bohol 1st District Engineering Office Chief Planning Section, and Engr. Maribel Baranggot, Engineer II who took part in the discussion of the TPKP project .

USEC Villanueva said that DAR has a number of pre-fabricated modular steel bridging materials under the TPKP now stored and stock filed in the DPWH Regional Office Compound 7 that can be used among the damaged local bridges in Bohol. The bridging materials form part of the DAR Foreign Assisted Projects under the Tulay Ng Pangulo Para Sa Kaunlarang Pang-Agraryo project assisted by the Government of France.

Director Leonidas discussed the joint report of DAR and DPWH. Per onsite validation ocular inspection, twelve (12) identified damaged bridges by the magnitude 7.1 earthquake last year will be replaced using the modular steel bridges as temporary replacement. The construction of these bridges will be in the municipalities of Antequera, Ubay, Guindulman, Sierra Bullones, Catigbian, and Dagohoy to be spearheaded by the DPWH in coordination with the DAR and the Local Government of Bohol.

Gov. Chatto appreciated the convergence effort of the DAR, DPWH and the LGU of the province of Bohol.

The TPKP project involves construction, installation, and establishment of “universal bridges” (unibridges) in priority Agrarian Reform Communities and CARP covered areas. It aims to promote rural development by linking the ARCs in the economic mainstream and open up development potentials in order to increase productivity and income.
