16 ARBs get CLOAs in Tanjay

visayan dailyThe Department of Agrarian Reform in Negros Oriental distributed Certificates of Land Ownership Award to 16 agrarian reform beneficiaries in Barangay Novallas, Tanjay City in the province recently.

Gherelene Rafols of the DAR said yesterday that the 20.6472-hectare of land, formerly owned by Josefa Villegas, was offered through the Voluntary Offer to Sell scheme by the Rural Bank of Bais, Incorporated/Philippine Deposit Insurance Company.

The distribution of CLOAs was initiated by the DAR Municipal Agrarian Reform Office of Tanjay City, headed by MAROs Felipe Gaviola and Demosthenes Chiu, in coordination with the Provincial Agrarian Reform Office.

Present at the activity were Vice Governor Mark Edward Macias, representatives from the Tanjay City Municipal Assessor and Treasurer’s offices, and DAR staff.

In his message, Macias urged the beneficiaries to manage the land well and coordinate with government agencies that can help them improve their land, the press release said.

The rights and obligations of ARBs were discussed by Edwin Arnado, DAR provincial sheriff.*JFP/PR
