DAR to distribute P35.8-M farm equipment to ARBOs

visayan dailyDAR-Negros Oriental will distribute  eight sets of  farm facilities to identified agrarian reform beneficiaries’ organizations, or ARBOs, in Negros Oriental when the required  documents are ready.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II, Louie Naranjo, said the farm facilities composed of nine  four-wheel drive tractor, trailing harrow, disc plow, and trailer, cost P35,892,000.

Naranjo said the equipment that costs P3.9 million each set, is for sugar block farming  to be used by organizations under the ARCCESS areas of the province. Another batch of similar units is expected to arrive in the next  months. One  will be given to DAR-Cebu City for ARBOs there.

He said  the recipients of the facilities are ARBOs in Canlaon City, Manjuyod, Mabinay, Tanjay City, Bais City, Sta. Catalina, and Bayawan City, and ARBOs in Medellin and Bogo in Cebu City.

Through the ARCCESS projects, the DAR will introduce agricultural technology and business development to farmer organizations, and provide farm equipment and machinery to improve and increase their yield, in coordination with other partner agencies like the Department of Agriculture, Sugar Regulatory Administration, and the Negros Oriental State University.

Present at  the delivery and initial turnover from the supplier to the DAR were Naranjo, PARPO I Elvira Bation, district officer Fernando Sauro Jr. of  the SRA, and DAR and ARBO representatives.*RG
