DAR turns over farm tractors to cooperatives

WEB ARCCESSr7 001The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently turned over seven farm tractors to seven agrarian reform beneficiaries organizations (ARBOs) in Dumaguete to help them increase farm productivity and income.

The seven four-wheel drive tractors with trailing harrows, disc plows and trailers were turned over to seven ARBOs namely: The San Julio ARB Cooperative, Samac United Farmers Multipurpose Cooperative, Ramrod Multipurpose Cooperative, Masulog Farmers Community Credit Cooperative, Katacgahan Small Farmers Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperative, Lapay Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Multi-Purpose Cooperative, and Sycip Planters and Farm Workers Agrarian Cooperative.

“These tractors will make farming easier and faster for our farmer-beneficiaries. It will also greatly improve their yield and increase their income,” said Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer Louie Naranjo.

According to Naranjo, the tractors would be managed by the cooperatives as an enterprise where the farmer-members and other farmers in the community could rent the tractors. The earnings would be used as business assets of the cooperatives and for the maintenance of the tractors.

The tractors were provided under the Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity Economic Support Services (ARCCESS), and was turned over in a simple ceremony last May 19, 2015. (Gherelene Mae B. Rafols)
