DAR AWARDS NORTH SAMAR TOWN

MbulletinGamay, Northern Samar (PIA) — The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently gave a performance-based incentive award to the local government unit (LGU) of this remote municipality.

The award, which entitled Gamay to P2.1 million cash incentive, is in recognition of the LGU’s performance in agrarian reform initiatives, planning, budgeting, resource mobilization, governance and financial accountability, which the DAR said was made possible through the support of the agency’s Agrarian Reform Communities Project’s second phase ARCP-II). DAR Assistant Regional Director Ismael Aya-ay, who presented the award to Mayor Timoteo Capoquian Jr. during the town’s 68th founding anniversary celebration, said the award is given to all LGUs covered by ARCP-II who meet the criteria under the performance-based grant system (PBGS), and entitles the recipient capital grant equivalent to 10 percent of the total project cost, which they can utilize in their capability building and human resource initiatives.
