DAR-Ormoc Holds Landowners’ Forum

news reg 2 pix 1 jan. 222016The Department of Agrarian Reform in Ormoc conducted a landowners’ forum to generate awareness on agri-business opportunities, investments and financial and entrepreneurial programs of the government.

“The forum served as DAR’s initiative to facilitate agri-productivity and countryside development for typhoon Yolanda ravaged areas,” DAR Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer Paulina Canales said.

Canales added that the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program is a means to jumpstart economic development particularly in rural areas, with the landowners playing a crucial role in facilitating investments and development.

The forum was attended by 40 landowners, with representatives from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA), the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and private entrepreneurs as resource speakers.

Resource Speakers Director Desiderio Belas of DTI and Joji Esplanada of OPA presented to the landowner-participants their respective agri-productivity programs and services.

The landowners’ forum was held on Dec. 22, 2015 at Sabin Resorts Hotel, Ormoc City. (John Colasito)
