SAN JULIAN, Eastern Samar – The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) under the administration of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and the leadership of Secretary John R. Castriciones on Monday, April 16 facilitated the release of certificates of land ownership award (CLOAs) to 320 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) from various towns in Eastern Samar province.
The distribution activity was led by Undersecretary Karlo S. Bello of Field Operations Office (FOO) together with Director Leomides R. Villareal of the Public Assistance and Media Relations Service (PAMRS), DAR Region VIII Director Sheila B. Enciso, San Julian Mayor Dennis Estaron, Assistant Regional Director Ismael Aya-ay and Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer II Gilberto Apilado.
“You are now landowners,” declared Bello as he asked the ARBs not to sell or lease their newly acquired lands.
Bello said President Duterte has mandated the DAR to fast-track the processing and release of CLOAs and the provision of support programs and services to the ARBs.
He also thanked the DAR personnel of region VIII and Eastern Samar for the release of the CLOAs to the farmers.
“Ako ay nabahagian ng lupa para sa kasiguraduhan ko sa lupang aking sinasaka. Tumanda na akong magsasaka at wakas ay natanggap ko na din ang matagal ko nang inaasam,” said 60-year old beneficiary Remedios Guajana.
Guajana said she has been tilling her farm for years and thanked the Duterte administration for the release of her land title.
She also expressed gratitude to DAR as support programs and services are set to be implemented in the area to boost their farm productions and lift their economic status through farming.
DAR distributed a total 614.6 hectares of agricultural land in Eastern Samar on Monday.
Data provided by DAR Region VIII revealed that of the total land areas distributed, 354.3 hectares are located in the municipality of San Julian; 76.5 hectares in Maydolong; 33.8 hectares in Dolores; 32.3 hectares in Lawaan; 27.7 hectares in Giporlos; 22.8 hectares in Salcedo; 19.2 hectares in Quinapondan; 19 hectares in Balangiga; 18.7 hectares in Can-avid; 6.4 hectares in Borongan; and 3.9 hectares in Balangkayan.
In his message, Mayor Estaron thanked DAR for making San Julian town the venue of the CLOA distribution.
Estaron also recognized the support services of DAR to the farmers in San Julian especially on the provision of support services to include agricultural warehouses and farm-to-market roads.
