Bukidnon farmers set to undergo skills training

business mirrorAGRARIAN reform beneficiaries in the municipalities of Cabanglasan and Baungon in the province of Bukidnon will undergo training to harness their entrepreneurial skills.

The program is being implemented by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) as part of the Agrarian Reform Connectivity and Economic Support Services  Project, a program of DAR designed to create a sustainable rural growth through enterprise development. The DAR-Bukidnon office recently formalized a partnership with the Institute for Socio-Economic and Development Initiative (Isedi) and Foundation for Rural Enterprise and Ecology Development of Mindanao (Freedom) to provide skills training to members of agrarian reform beneficiaries organizations (ARBOs) in the two towns.

Bukidnon Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer Julio Celestiano Jr said Isedi and Freedom would provide participating ARBOs services, such as development of business enterprise and market, financial and organizational management to prepare them for greater responsibilities of good governance.

The purpose is to teach farmers and their ARBOs how to manage day-to-day business transactions and show them the proper way to sustain the business units in the community.

Under the agreement, Isedi will train 10 ARBOs in Cabanglasan, while Freedom will take care of three ARBOs in Baungon.

Celestiano said these ARBOs will also serve as the convergence areas for the delivery of support services, not only for their member-farmers’ own needs, but also for other organizations in the area.
