GPB, formerly called Bottoms-up Budgeting (BUB), is a strategy in pursuing the Medium Development Goals of the government in reducing poverty as indicated in the 2011-2016 Philippine Development Plan.
The approved projects include the concreting of G. Pelaez farm-to-market road in Gitagum costing P935,000 with LGU counterpart of P85,000 and the road protection project of barangay Cabalantian that costs P2,970,000 in Manticao with LGU counterpart of P270,000. Both projects are to be completed in 50 working days.
Mayor Rodolfo Buray and vice-mayor Shirley Taroy signed for Gitagum while mayor Roberto Lagrosas signed for Manticao.
Asst. regional director Eliasem Castillo represented DAR-10 regional director Felix Aguhob and provincial agrarian reform program officer (PARPO) I Shirley Arquiza represented PARPO II Zoraida Macadindang of Misamis Oriental.
ARD Castillo expressed optimism that the MOA signing, the first under GPB in Region 10 for this year, signals the partnership between the DAR and the LGUs. He stressed that the DAR is looking forward to the successful completion of the afore-mentioned projects and thanked the local officials for their active participation and support that made the projects possible. CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, September 23 (PIA) -- The Department of Agrarian Reform and the local government units (LGU) of Gitagum and Manticao, both in Misamis Oriental, signed on Sept. 19 a Memorandum of Agreement regarding the implementation of projects approved under the Grassroots Participatory Budgeting (GPB) process.
