DAR turns over P6.5-M projects to agrarian cooperative

Z WEB-20151217 NATL R10 photoCAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – A corn coffee processing facility, a warehouse with solar dryer and toilet and a heavy farm tractor were recently turned over by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) to the Lapad Agrarian Reform Farmers’ Cooperative (LARFACO) in Lapad, Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental.

Undersecretary for Support Services Rosalinda Bistoyong said “these projects would be a big help in the cooperative’s corn production. These [projects] would not only increase their yield and income, it would also greatly improve the quality of their corn products.”

Regional Director Faisar Mambuay said “the construction of the corn coffee processing facility worth P200,000 was implemented under the Village Level Processing Center Enhancement Project (DAR-VLPCEP). The solar dryer and warehouse with toilet worth P3.38 million was constructed under the Agrarian Reform Infrastructure Support Project (ARISP) and funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and the Philippine government. And lastly, the P2.98 million heavy tractor was provided by the Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity & Economic Support Services (ARCCESS).”

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer Zoraida Macadindang urged the people of Barangay Lapad to take care of the equipment and facilities for the benefit of future generations.

Lanao del Norte PARPO Jamil Amatonding together with Municipal Agrrian Reform Officer Francis Padilla and members of LARFACO witnessed the turn-over and the signing of the trust agreement between DAR represented by Macadindang as the grantor, and LARFACO Chairman Danilo Quilab as the grantee of the project.

Also present during the occasion were Laguindingan Municipal Mayor Oliver Ubaub, Barangay Chairman Jimmy Refuerzo and CARPO Archie Ladera, Engr. Mark Bael, ARCCESS coordinator Chiona vBahian, SARPO Maybelle Alcala, and DAR provincial and municipal employees. Fr. Emerson Pasilan and Fr. Wilson Legaspi blessed the farm equipment and facilities.
