Indonesian delegation visits Northern Mindanao

Z Z WEB 20160304 REGL R10 REXY PH2Cagayan de Oro - The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has recently welcomed the delegation from the Republic of Indonesia which is looking forward to learn the agrarian reform experience in the Philippines and see how it could make use of it back home.

Asst. Regional Director Teresita Depeňoso said the Indonesian high delegation was composed of 14 delegates from the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning – National Land Use Agency led by Dadan, SH., M. Si, the Head of Sub-Directorate Monitoring and Evaluation, Directorate of Land Consolidation,  and six delegates from an Indonesian non-government organization Konsortium Pembaruan Agraria (KPA) led by Vice Secretary-General Dewi Kartika.

Depeňoso said the Regional Office hosted several activities for the guests that started with the briefing on the status of implementation of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) in Northern Mindanao.

She noted the accomplishment on the three major final outputs – land tenure services, program beneficiaries’ development, and agrarian legal services.

Land Use Management Analyst Wisnu Bima Samudra presented the  Indonesian land use policies and regulations as well as the functions of the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning.

DAR officials joined the Indonesian guests to Lapad, Laguindingan, Misamis Oriental and had the chance to meet and interact with the officers and members of Lapad Agrarian Reform Farmers’ Cooperative (LARFACO) and had a taste of their locally produced corn coffee.

Mayor of Cagayan de Oro Oscar Moreno welcomed the Indonesian guests to Cagayan de Oro. The visitors were treated with songs and traditional dances during the fellowship and cultural night.

On the third day of the visit, the delegation with DAR officials went to Bukidnon to meet the officers and members of PANAW Sumilao Multipurpose Cooperative in Sumilao, where the famous “Walk for Land, Walk for Justice” march to Manila originated.

In the afternoon, the delegation then proceeded to visit the Del Monte Employees Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries’ Cooperative in Manolo Fortich.  During the visit to Bukidnon, the delegates were updated on the situation of the above-mentioned cooperatives before the CARP  implementation as well as on their present status.
