Every month of June for the last 27 years, Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer Ernesto B. Tan makes sure to bring together agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) and other Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) stakeholders and celebrate the gains of CARP in Davao City.
Tan beamed with pride that the yearly reunion of ARBs is a beautiful and unique tradition of DAR-Davao City to show that the gains and the positive impact of CARP are still alive after 27 years. This is manifested in the support and active participation of the hundreds of ARBs and farmers’ organizations that are present every CARP Anniversary celebration named “Pakiglambigit”.
This year, recognition was given to the leaders of different farmers’ organizations in the three districts of Davao City as partners and catalysts of DAR in building vibrant community in the countryside. The activity was also a learning session among stakeholders since the invited CARP-partner agencies shared and disseminated information on the projects and programs of their respective departments for the farmers.
The Community Environment and Natural Resource Office (CENRO) of Davao City also presented to DAR Davao City and PARCCOM a Certificate of Appreciation for helping make the TreeVolution Activity successful. The activity made it to the Guinness Book of World Records as the holder of the most number of trees planted in one hour.
Regional Director John Maruhom said that the theme for this year’s Pakiglambigit “Magtambayayong sa Hagit sa Pagpadayon sa Repormang Agraryo,” is timely.
Maruhom also said that participation of ARBs in the Pakiglambigit is an indication that CARP is successful. He thanked the people for the continuous support to the agrarian reform program of the government.
Tan vows to continue this tradition of “Pakiglambigit” as a great opportunity to engage with the agrarian reform beneficiaries and line agency-partners in Davao City. (Fraulein G. Montañez)
