DAVAO CITY—Audit committees belonging to 11 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOs) here recently underwent a two-day training on internal control and inventory to help sustain their viability as cooperatives.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer (PARPO) Ernesto B. Tan said, “the participants were taught about putting in place an effective internal control systems that would help safeguard the cooperatives’ assets.”

Resource speaker Efren M. Bravo of the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) said that the auditing committees were also trained on the prevention and detection of fraud and error, and accuracy and completeness of accounting records.

Jocelyn A. Luaña of Banana Growers Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperatives (BGARBC) realized that the auditing is tough a job. “But I will do my best to put into practice all that I have learned here. This is a challenge that I will impose upon myself,” Luaña said.

Chief Agrarian Reform Program Officer (CARPO) Raul Larosa said he expects that audit committee members would become more confident to put in place an effective internal control system for their respective cooperatives.

The auditing training were attended by audit committees belonging to 11 ARBOs namely: Subasta ARB Agri.Cooperative (SARBAC); DAVCO Employees Cooperative (DAVECO), Biao Joaquin ARB Coop (BJARBC); Banana Growers ARB Cooperative(BJARBC); Tawan-tawan Multi Purpose Cooperative (TMC); Suawan Proper Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SPMPC); Balacan Development Cooperative
(BDC) ; Carmen Agricultural Multi-Purpose Cooperative (CAMPC); Talomo River Multi-Purpose Cooperative (TARIMCO); Upper Tamayong Multi-Purpose Cooperative (UTMPC) and Farmers Development Cooperative (FARDECO).

The two-day training was conducted on Nov.17-18, 2015 held at the DAR Provincial Office in Davao City. (Fraulein G. Montañez)
