Davao ARBOs undergo workshop on contract review and negotiation

news reg 4 pix 1 nov. 16 2016More than 50 farmers from 24 Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Organizations (ARBOs) in Davao City participated in the two day program beneficiaries development (PBD) Lawyering Activity on contract review and negotiation held recently at the Eagle Ridge Resort, Davao City.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Ernesto B. Tan said the PBD lawyering  activity is an intervention of DAR Legal Team and the Program Beneficiaries Development Division to capacitate the Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) and ARBOs on the basic skills on agribusiness ventures  agreements and contracts  with their investor – partners to provide them a higher income and opportunities to increase their standard of living.

Tan said the training is beneficial for those who have existing contracts and provide information to the ARBs and ARBOs who are planning to venture into agreements and contracts with investors.

Atty. Glenn Pobre of the Legal Division and one of the resource speakers, explained the obligation and contracts based on the Civil Code of the Philippines, specifically on the three  stages of entering into contracts: from preparation, perfection and  consummation of a contract, principles of contract, the cause of the contract and the requisites of a good contract.

Atty. Pobre also discussed certain topics on the art on negotiation for first timers in contract and renegotiation for those have already existing contracts.  He stressed and cautioned the ARBOs that engaging in commercial agreements signifies adherence to its terms and conditions.

Chief Agrarian Reform Program Officer for PBD Ruel Larosa challenged the participants to give ample time to understand the stipulations on the contracts before signing.

“It is expected that after the training, the ARBOs are more careful to the   provisions in the contract,” Larosa added. (Fraulein  G. Montañez,)
