DAVAO DEL NORTE, May 16 (PIA) - - - Four agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARB) cooperatives in Kapalong availed a total of P 1.2-M from the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR).
The identified cooperatives were Sampao Rubber Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperative (SRARBCO) with P 500,000; United Farm Workers Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Multi-Purpose Cooperative (UFARBEMPCO), P 500,000; Pag-asa Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PARBEMPCO), P 100,000; and Sagana Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Multi-Purpose Cooperative (SARBEMPCO), P 100,000.
Henry Marin, agrarian reform project officer II, said that the funds distributed were under the Bottom-Up Budgeting Program, now Grass Root Budgeting Program, in which DAR is a participating agency.
Marin said that the funds were intended as micro-financing projects of the cooperatives, which will result to the increase in their production.
Currently, SRARBCO is producing cup-lump rubber; while the other three cooperatives produce fresh Cavendish Bananas.
Marin said that the amount was turned over to the local government unit through Mayor Edgardo Timbol on May 2, which will later be distributed to the cooperatives.
Marin also revealed that DAR will also be giving credit assistance to an ARB cooperative for 2015. (PIA 11, Michael Uy)
