DAR, LGU to construct Badiangon-Tibuhol bridge

piaPALIMBANG, Sultan Kudarat, Nov17 (PIA) – A bridge will soon be constructed  connecting Barangays Badiangon and Barangay Tibuhol, this municipality, to improve access of people and products which are expected to spur economic development in the area, says a local official of Palimbang town in the coastal area of Sultan Kudarat province.

Abubakar Maulana, municipal mayor of Palimbang, expressed his gratitude to the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) for the assistance extended to the municipality for the project during the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).  The signing ceremony was held at the Office of Municipal Mayor on November 10, 2014.

Maulana said that the bridge will benefit a lot of his constituents since other adjacent barangays can also access the Badiangon-Tibuhol bridge, making the entry and exit to the area a lot convenient. 

DAR representatives from provincial and municipal offices together with municipal and barangay officials of Palimbang witnessed the MOA signing that cemented the partnership of the two government agencies.

The project costs about P4.950-M under the Bottom’s-Up-Budgeting (BUB), now known as the Grassroots Participatory Budgeting (GPB).  This is to be implemented by DAR in partnership with the LGU of Palimbang.

According to Luis Juliano, municipal agrarian reform program officer of DAR in Palimbang, the budget is at hand and construction will commence as soon as DAR will issue Notice to Proceed to the contractor.

Rhea Marie Betque, chief of Program Beneficiaries Development (PBD) Division of DAR provincial office, said that based on records submitted to DAR by the LGU, more than 1,603 households will benefit from the said bridge project. (ACAgad PIA 12/with reports from JJBDael DAR-SK)
