DAR 12 receives 7 tractors under ARCCESS project

piaISULAN Sultan Kudarat, Apr6 (PIA) – The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Region 12 recently received seven  brand new heavy-duty tractors with implements for use of agrarian reform beneficiaries here.

DAR 12 Regional Director Nasser Musali explained that these initial units were delivered to DAR Sultan Kudarat provincial office because of the fenced premises that could secure the machines and the space available to accommodate all the 28 farm machineries and implements intended for the region.

The seven units are brand new Massey Ferguson four-wheel drive tractors with 90- HP minimum rated power, 4 cylinder diesel engines, and turbo charged intercooler.

These were procured by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Procurement Service for Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity and Economic Support Services (ARCCESS) project.

Each tractor together with its respective implements such as mounted disc plow, trailing disc harrow and 5-ton heavy-duty trailer costs P2,988,000.00 or a total amount of P20,916,000.00.

Director Musali formally received said units together with Sultan Kudarat Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer (PARPO) Rodolfo Alburo, Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Procurement Management Officer (PMO) Joseph Balagtas and representatives from the winning supplier.

Before the formal acceptance of the farm implements, PMO Balagtas of DBM Central Office and the DAR-12 inspection team jointly inspected and evaluated the delivered tractors and their implements.

“The units are in good running condition, the lights, lever, and siren are functional and the tools and instructional manuals are complete,” Balagtas remarked after the inspection.

Director Musali also said that the receipt of the first batch of farm machineries will give meaning to the lives of the agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARB) in the region.  He added that a second batch will follow sometime this year.

He added that the delivery of the machineries is very timely because land preparation in the farms has not yet started and once units are turned-over to the beneficiary organizations, it will be put to good use.

He also said that these units can significantly improve the quality of farming of the recipient ARBs, lessen expenses and improve their productivity, which is well-within the intention of ARCESS project.

ARCCESS is DAR’s strategic intervention to retain the awarded lands of ARBs through increased production and engagement in agri-based and related enterprises. (ACAgad PIA 12  with report  from JJBDael DAR-Sultan Kudarat)
