Farmers’ Livelihood Projects To Be Implemented In South Cotabato

june 10 2015 2 reg 1The Mindanao Sustainable Agrarian and Agriculture Development Sub Project Approval Committee (MSPAC) of Region 12 has deliberated and approved on May 20, 2015 two livelihood project proposals for South Cotabato farmers.

The committee, chaired by Regional Director Nasser M. Musali, approved the Abaca Production, Processing and Marketing and the Improvement of Rice Production, Processing and Marketing for the farmer-beneficiaries of Ned Settlement in Lake Sebu.

Musali said that the livelihood projects are due for implementation. “A lot of the IPs (indigenous peoples) here are also beneficiaries of these projects. We are informing and assisting them to become members of participating agrarian reform beneficiaries’ organizations so that other IP individuals will also be encouraged to participate actively in the -projects, not just as laborers, but as owners and producers too,” Musali said.

MSPAC has previously approved three projects that are currently being implemented in South Cotabato namely: Improved Peanut Production, Processing and Marketing, Enhanced Corn Production, Processing and Marketing, and Coffee-Cacao Production, Processing and Marketing.

Along with RD Musali, members of MSPAC include MinSAAD Project Manager Cenon S. Original, and representatives from various partner agencies: DTI, DPWH, DA, NCIP and PAMB (Protected Area Management Board). (Kathleen Sespeñe)
