DAR, DTI join forces for agrarian reform beneficiaries

piaKIDAPAWAN  CITY,  North Cotabato,  Aug 24 (PIA)  -- The  Department of Agrarian  Reform  and the  Department of  Trade and  Industry  in SOCCSKSARGEN  Region are   strengthening  partnership  for the  benefit of the  agrarian  reform communities  in the area.

Recently,  DAR and  DTI   conducted  a  regional synchronized planning workshop in  a bid to  bring more meaningful results toward institutional effectiveness particularly on DAR-DTI-CARP partnership.

Regente Dioneda, chief agrarian reform program officer from DAR Central Office, said the activity seeks to enable the field implementers both from DAR and DTI-CARP to maximize emerging opportunities and identify complementary resources that will bring the ARBs in a network of related and supporting industries.

“The output of the workshop is very important in the implementation of enterprise development-related programs and projects initiated by the DAR-Support Services Office through the Bureau of Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Development (BARBD) as well as agri-enterprise component of newly approved foreign-assisted projects, like MINSAAD and other local initiatives jointly undertaken by DAR and DTI,” Dioneda  explained.

Dioneda  emphasized  further that the synchronized planning workshop is geared towards the empowerment of ARBs and strengthening of the ARBOs involved by scaling- up their existing enterprises.

“We want to make the remaining years of CARPeR implementation to be more effective and efficient by scaling up the underpinnings of the enterprise development initiatives, like the Village Level Processing Center Enhancement Project (VLPCEP); Up-Valuing of Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Products and Social Entrepreneurship (SE), among others” she said.

Meanwhile, Leonard Flores, chief trade industry development specialist  of DTI 12 said that the synchronization plan provides an opportunity in strengthening the collaboration and coordination work between DAR and DTI-CARP which is also geared toward a common goal of satisfying the ARBs in the region.

“There is a need to enhance and sustain the collaborative activities that will enable the two agencies to assist the ARBs to actively participate in the industry level activities and provide them a better business environment,” Flores.

Increasing number of ARB products that are ready for the market,  he  elaborated, require the continuing interventions both from DAR and DTI.

DAR and DTI 12 have set the second round of the DAR and DTI-CARP synchronized planning Workshop on October 5-9, 2015. (Rorejudos-DAR N. Cotabato/DEDoguiles-PIA12)
