Farmers can expect better support services in Palimbang town -- DAR

piaISULAN, Sultan Kudarat, Dec16 (PIA) – “Farmer-beneficiaries can now expect better agrarian support services,” says a provincial chief of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Sultan Kudarat.

This came following the recent launching of Batang Bagras as a Special Agrarian Reform Community (SARC) in Palimbang town.

Rodolfo Alburo, Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II (PARPO II) said that along with the increased influx of support services for farmers in Batang Bagras is the growth of the skills of the people and the development of the community.

Batang Bagras is being referred to as a special ARC because of the nature of the farmer-beneficiaries living in the area.

“The declaration of Batang Bagras as a special ARC will avert the influence of any misguided armed groups on our farmer-beneficiaries and on the community as a whole,” Alburo said.

He explained that ARC is a barangay or cluster of barangays in a municipality where farmers and farmworkers are awaiting the full implementation of the agrarian reform.

He added that ARC is a development strategy taking into consideration the economic and socio-political aspects of the area.

“Greater impact can be achieved with regard to development if the limited resources of the government are concentrated on an area where majority of the residents are ARBs,” he said.

Samsudin Talipol, Batang Bagras Punong Barangay expressed his gratitude to DAR and hoped for more intervention in the area.

He said  his constituents can now enjoy more of the services from the government such as roads, bridges, trainings to improve productivity and livelihood projects.

Batang Bagras was declared SARC pursuant to Resolution No. 03, Series of 2015 of National Agrarian Reform Communities Task Force (NARCTF), making it the 17thARC in Sultan Kudarat and the second ARC in Palimbang town. (ACAgad PIA 12/ with reports from JJBDael-DAR-SK)
