DAR turns over Php 51.3 million worth of farm equipment to Cebu and Negros Oriental farmers

 ZZ WEB 20160419 NATL R07 REXY PH1The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently turned over Php 51.3 million worth of  nine 10-wheeler dump trucks  to DAR Cebu and Negros Oriental farmers’ organizations.

Regional Director Alejandro S. Otacan said the common services facilities  (CSFs) were provided under the Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity and Economic Support Services (ARCCESS) project of the DAR.

Otacan said the farm equipment worth P 5.7 million each will be used for the sugar block farming and will benefit the farmers from agrarian reform beneficiaries organizations (ARBOs) in Negros Oriental and Cebu.

Under the sugar block farming system, small farms of less than five hectares are consolidated into blocks of at least 30 hectares while preserving
ownership. Farm productivity is improved through the establishment of integrated sugar production systems and systematic provision of farm inputs and technical assistance.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officers Atty. Louie Naranjo of DAR Negros Oriental and Elvira Bation of DAR Cebu signed the acceptance  of  the farm equipment, seven  10-wheeler dump trucks for Negros Oriental and the two dump trucks for Cebu.

Other officials who witnessed the CSF turnover ceremony were Atty. Rosalio Kintanar, Regional Agrarian Reform Adjudicator of DAR 7 & Negros Island Region (NIR), Atty. Josephus Baterna, Assistant Regional Director of DAR 7, Dr. Antonio del Socorro, Assistant Regional Director of DAR NIR,  Andrea Paciana Labra, Regional Chief Administrative Officer, Varinia  Fabillar , PARPO I of DAR Cebu , Atty Alvin Arante, Chief Legal Assistance Division of DAR Cebu, Eddie Maguinsay, PARPO I  of DAR Bohol, Ferdinand Yu, OIC Chief Agrarian Reform Program Officer (CARPO) for Support Services Division, and DAR7 Management Committee members.
