3 organizations get livelihood projects from DAR

piaKORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato,  Apr. 25 (PIA) --  Three  community-based organizations in  Polomolok town  received  livelihood projects  from  the Department of Agrarian Reform.

These  projects, according to a press statement from DAR-South Cotabato  were implemented  under the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan – Agrarian Reform Areas (PAMANA-ARA) Program.

DAR-South Cotabato identified the   recipients as Sulit Farmers’ Association (SUFA) and Sulit Tricycle Operators’ and Drivers’ Association (SULTODA) of Barangay  Sulit and Silway 8 Community-based Association  of  Barangay  Silway 8. 

Each group received Php300,000.

Roldan Ali, OIC PARPO II of DAR South Cotabato urged the recipients to build on the projects that  the  national government  has  granted them.

“Your orgnizations  are  the  conduit of the  government  to  help the people,”  he said.

Silway-8 Community Based Association  is  putting up a  rice reselling  store (Bigasan ng  Bayan).

Meanwhile, Engr. Nestor I. Villanueva, chief agrarian reform program officer of the Program Beneficiaries Development Division of DAR South Cotabato, said the program aims to improve the lives not only of the recipients but also of the next generation.

 “Hopefully, the benefits that you will obtain from the projects granted to you will also be enjoyed by your children,” he said.  “We will be coaching and mentoring you and constantly monitor your operation to ensure the successful implementation and sustainability of the projects.”

PAMANA-ARA is a  peace and development framework of the national government aimed to respond and strengthen peace-building, reconstruction and development in conflict-affected areas.

It is jointly implemented by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace Process (OPAPP) and the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) with the cooperation of other national and local government agencies.  (DEDoguiles-PIA 12 with report  from HEAliligay/KDSespeñe-DAR SoCot)
