DAR turns-over livelihood projects in SoCot

ZZ WEB 20160426 NATL R12 MEDEL PH1The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) recently turned-over P300,000 worth of projects to three farmers’ organizations in the municipality of Polomolok, South Cotabato as part of a livelihood project under the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan – Agrarian Reform Areas (PAMANA-ARA) Program.

OIC-Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer (PARPO) II H. Roldan Ali said the recipients include Silway 8 Community-based Association, Sulit Farmers’ Association (SUFA) and Sulit Tricycle Operators’ and Drivers’ Association (SULTODA).

“Bigasan ng Bayan as one of their projects is very promising to generate more income in their organizations,” Ali said.
Ali added that the DAR and PAMANA-ARA would constantly monitor their operation to ensure the successful implementation and sustainability of the projects.

Chief Agrarian Reform Program Officer (CARPO) Nestor Villanueva said the department will mentor the organizations because they are the conduit of the government in extending help to the people.

“Hopefully, the benefits will improve the lives not only of the recipients but also of the next generation,” Villanueva said.

Ms. Eva Roldan, president of Silway 8 Community-based Association, said the amount would be a very big help for them to start their organizations’ project.

The PAMANA-ARA is implemented jointly by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace Process (OPAPP) and DAR with the cooperation of other national and local government agencies, aimed to respond and strengthen peace-building, reconstruction and development in conflict-affected areas in the country.
