PARC Execom formulate strategic plans

news reg 1 pix 1 nov. 23 2016GEN. SANTOS CITY (Nov. 22, 2016)—The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) is now conducting a planning workshop for the Presidential Agrarian Reform Council Executive Committee (PARC Execom) to craft strategic plans and set targets for 2017-2022.

DAR Secretary Rafael Mariano who is also the PARC Execom Chairman, said the workshop seeks to come up with a list of priorities and recommendations on land acquisition and distribution, rural development and agrarian justice. 

“The planning workshop would push for the DAR’s agenda of developing programs and creating solutions to problems the farmers face like land eviction, lack of farm infrastructures and lack of access to credit just to name a few,” said Mariano.

Undersecretary and concurrent PARC Execom Secretary David Erro said the participants of the planning workshop consists of officials from CARP-implementing agencies (CIAs) namely the Land Bank of the Philippines, the Departments of Trade and Industry, Science and Technology, Agriculture, Irrigation, Environment, Labor and Employment, and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority. Representatives from the committees on agrarian reform of the Senate and the Congress are also present.

Erro said representatives from the private sector are also participating representing the farmer-beneficiaries and landowners from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.news reg 1 pix 2 nov. 23 2016 

“In the workshops, the CIAs, farmers and landowners assessed their performance in the years 2010 to June 2016. Consultations were also conducted for the participants,” Erro said.

“The participants and us in DAR, are now brainstorming on the opportunities, challenges to came up with programs and solutions to problems in agrarian reform,” added Erro.

On the third day, outputs from the workshop groups will be presented to Secretary Mariano.

“Us in the PARC executive committee will meet again to synthesize and fine-tune the medium-term plan before finally presenting it to the President in the next PARC meeting in January next year,” Mariano said. 


The three-day PARC Execom planning workshop is being held at the Greenleaf Hotel, General Santos City from Nov. 22 to 25, 2016.
