SoCot farmers receive livelihood projects

news reg 1 pix 1 oct. 4 2017NINE Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries from three barangays of Surallah, South Cotabato recently received livelihood projects aimed to help increase their household income through the development and improvement of their business enterprises.

In partnership with the Department of Agrarian Reform, Pilmico Foods Corporation, a subsidiary of Aboitiz Equity Ventures Inc., the farmer-beneficiaries received livelihood projects, which include pig dispersals, egg machines, and technical assistance.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II H. Roldan Ali said the awarding of livelihood projects is realized through a memorandum of agreement signed between DAR, Pilmico and the ARBs.

The aid is part of Pilmico’s “Mahalin Pagkaing Atin” Program, which aims to promote sustainable entrepreneurship for backyard farmers and aspiring farmer-entrepreneurs through the promotion of local produce.news reg 1 pix 2 oct. 4 2017

“We are very thankful to Pilmico Company for choosing South Cotabato farmers as beneficiaries of their project. So far, we are the only province in Central Mindanao chosen by the company, and I am hopeful that farmers from other provinces will also benefit from their program,” Ali said.

Gregory Canoy of Pilmico Foods Corporation said their company will continue to monitor and evaluate the progress and development of the program.

The beneficiaries in South Cotabato were identified based on the assessment and validation process of the company, Canoy added.
