LLANERA, Nueva Ecija: The government is planning to put an end to widespread land conversion that for years has defeated the goal to attain food self-sufficiency.
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) will not sue farmers who sold or leased agrarian land they were granted in 2013 at Hacienda Luisita in Tarlac province, Agrarian Reform Secretary Rafael Mariano said on Tuesday.
The Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Law (Republic Act No. 6657) prohibits the sale or lease of lands covered by certificates of land ownership award (Cloa) for at least 10 years.
MANILA, Philippines — Agrarian Reform Secretary Rafael Mariano on Wednesday voided the sale and leasing out of Hacienda Luisita farm lots awarded by the government to agrarian reform beneficiaries.
Mariano cited the 10-year ban that stopped holders of certificates of land ownership award (Cloa) from selling and leasing agrarian lands distributed through the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP).
His order also affected all joint venture arrangements involving Cloa lots.
