PARC Execom formulates strategic plans

piaGEN. SANTOS CITY, Nov. 24 —The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) is now conducting a planning workshop for the Presidential Agrarian Reform Council Executive Committee (PARC Execom) to craft strategic plans and set targets for 2017-2022.  

DAR Secretary Rafael Mariano who is also the PARC Execom Chairman, said the workshop seeks to come up with a list of priorities and recommendations on land acquisition and distribution, rural development and agrarian justice.   

“The planning workshop would push for the DAR’s agenda of developing programs and creating solutions to problems the farmers face like land eviction, lack of farm infrastructures and lack of access to credit just to name a few,” said Mariano.

DAR chief opposes Marcos burial but will not quit Cabinet post

inquirerMANILA — Agrarian Reform Secretary Rafael “Ka Paeng” Mariano opposes the sudden hero’s burial of late dictator Ferdinand Marcos but has made it clear he will not resign from his post in the President’s Cabinet as the head of the Department of Agrarian Reform.

“Before we entered the government, we were already aware of the differences we have with President Rodrigo Duterte on some issues. Despite our opposing stance on the Marcos burial, we continue to engage him on this matter,” Mariano said, in a statementon Monday, three days after Marcos was buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
