manilatimes 1THE Italian government has earmarked P2.52 billion for rural infrastructure and agri-enterprise development, ca-pacity-building and project management in farming communities in the Philippines, as part of its continuing support for the eradication of poverty and hunger in the country.

During the meeting, Roscigno presented to Mariano the projects and programs currently being executed by the Department under the Italian Assistance on Agrarian Reform Community Development Support Program (IARCDSP).

Roscigno said the IARCDSP project will cover 26 municipalities, 35 agrarian reform communities (ARCs) and 117 barangays in Region 11 and the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

For his part, Mariano extended his appreciation and gratitude to the Italain ambassador “for their generous support and assistance to the peace process, for helping in the development of ARCs and for supporting the agrarian reform program.”

Recently, representatives from the World Bank Philippines, led by Country Director Mara Warwick, paid a courtesy call to Marianp, expressing their support for the rural development program of DAR.

Warwick assured the World Bank’s continued support for DAR’s programs and infrastructure projects.

The financial institution has been one of the major partners of the agency for the last 20 years.
