DAR turns over ARISP III irrigation project

piaQUEZON CITY, Oct. 25 - The Dagohoy Communal Irrigation Project  (CIP) under Agrarian Reform Infrastructure Support Project (ARISP) III, with a total cost of Php9,940,924.00 and covers a service area of about forty-nine (49) hectares, was turned over today, October 21, 2016 by the Department of Agrarian Reform to Dagohoy Talaingod Irrigators Association (DATAISA). The turn-over ceremony of the CIP situated in Dagohoy, Talaingod, Davao del Norte, was graced by DAR Secretary Rafael “Ka Paeng” Mariano, together with other

officials from DAR, National Irrigation Administration and the Municipality of Talaingod.

The project was implemented by NIA and is expected to benefit at least forty-four Agrarian Reform Beneficiary households.

Secretary Mariano is his inspirational message said that “food security and food sufficiency should be addressed by the project in the community, which has a population of more than 4,000 residents.” He added that the project will, in a way, promote farmers’ welfare which is part of the 5-point agenda of the Duterte Administration.

Sec Mariano emphasized that if properly used and sustained, the CIP project in Barangay Dagohoy will empower the farmers, including women and youth since it would result to remarkable increase in productivity and income. (DAR)
