CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija — A total of P1.9 million worth of vegetable seedlings and fertilizers were distributed by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) to farmers as part of its farm productivity assistance program amid the coronavirus pandemic.
According to Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer I Jocelyn Ramones, this is part of the “The PaSSOver: ARBold Move for the Deliverance of our Farmers from the COVID-19 Pandemic” program which is in recognition of the role of local farmers as the foundation of the country’s economy.
“We should always support our local farmers who have been instrumental in ensuring food security in the country by supporting the agency’s programs,” Ramones said.
Each farmer beneficiary received seven packs of seedlings, seven seedling trays and fertilizers to aid them in their livelihood.
Ramones said that around 44 hectares of farm land in various areas in Nueva Ecija can be utilized for the seedlings provided.
