Convergence of DAR stakeholders

ANGELES CITY, Pampanga – A total of 141 stakeholders coming from various people’s organizations (POs), non-government organizations (NGOs) and civil society organizations (CSOs) from all over the country, and 106 officials of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) from different regions and provinces are now converging at the Stotsenberg Hotel in Clark Freeport Zone here for a two-day 2018 National Summit of Agrarian Reform Stakeholders.

DAR Secretary John R. Castriciones instructed the conduct of the summit as a participatory process and serves as a consultation mechanism for all stakeholders of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) to discuss the continuing and emerging issues, concerns, inputs, and recommendations.

The gathering also aims to make the agrarian reform program of the government fully responsive to the beneficiaries.

Major concerns discussed in the two-day activity include land tenure security; policy-related issues on agrarian reform; agrarian justice delivery, land conversion, exclusion, and exemptions; food security and sustainable livelihood; resiliency and climate change; delivery of support services and basic social services; and agrarian reform and federalism.

The two-day summit will end today, January 26.
