DAR hosts GAR discussion in CDO

news national 1 pix 1 oct. 7 2016CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Oct. 7 - Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Lawyer Attorney Jobert Pahilga orients almost 200 farmers from Northern Mindanao about the genuine agrarian reform (GAR) in a discussion hosted by DAR.

GAR is a program that aims to end land monopoly while providing an integrated and holistic program of support services for farmers. It seeks to distribute available agricultural lands all over the country to Filipino farmers, rural workers, and indigenous people for free.
Attorney Pahilga explained that GAR would implement actual land distribution instead of the non-land or alternative schemes such as the stock distribution option, leaseback system, joint venture, and profit-sharing.

The event also served as the presentation of the new thrust and policy direction of Secretary Rafael “Ka Paeng” Mariano’s administration – defend and assert the rights of farmers.
