PARC Secretariat Director James Arsenio Ponce

DAPITAN CITY (October 11, 2017)—The Presidential Agrarian Reform Council (PARC) Secretariat is currently conducting a two-day consultation, feedbacking and workshop with agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) involved in agri-business venture agreements (AVA).

PARC Secretariat Director James Arsenio Ponce said the consultation seeks to inform and guide ARBs in making sound decisions concerning their AVA with their investors.

Regional Agrarian Reform Adjudicator Rolando Cua

“We want the farmers to understand the provisions contained in their contracts by orienting them of the laws and guidelines of AVAs and by hearing their AVA issues and concerns. This consultation would empower ARBs and their cooperatives with the processes and guide them on what options to take in negotiating for their contracts with their investors,” Ponce said.

During the consultation and feedbacking, Regional Agrarian Reform Adjudicator Rolando Cua explained to the farmers the laws, rules and processes of AVAs.

“This is essential learning for the farmers. I explained and clarified to them what their rights and benefits as agrarian reform beneficiaries. Hopefully, they will keep all these in their mind as these will help them in addressing their AVA problems,” Cua said.

The consultation cum workshop is being held in Dapitan City on Oct. 11-12, 2017. (30)
