Sultan Kudarat farmers get Php 17-M worth of dump trucks

The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has recently turned over three dump trucks  to the agrarian reform beneficiary organizations (ARBOs) in Sultan Kudarat.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Rodolfo Alburo said the three dump trucks cost P 17,131,920 at 5.51 million each. The trucks were provided under the Agrarian Reform Community Connectivity and Economic Support Services (ARCCESS) program.

He said Columbio Peoples Multi-purpose Cooperative (COPEMCO) received one dump truck while Sultan Kudarat Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Network (SKARBNet) got two.

“This can help the hauling needs of farmers and serve as an added service of the ARB organizations,” Alburo said.

COPEMPCO Chairman Hector Nidoy said that they have been waiting for the truck  as they need it as part of their cooperative services to their members.

“The dump truck will compliment with the other projects that we have received from DAR like heavy tractor given earlier,” he said.

He added that the dump truck would benefit farmer-members through lower rental fee. “We expressed gratitude to DAR and to the people who made this a reality,“ Nidoy said.

SKARBNet Chairman Jolly Marquez also expressed his gratitude to DAR, saying the trucks would be of great help to them and to their six member- ARB organizations.

“We will use the trucks to ferry and deliver rice, corn, oil palm and sugar cane products that we will buy from the member-organizations of SKARBNet,”  he said.

Marquez added that 300 member-farmers who are benefiting from the project are from the municipalities of Isulan, Tacurong, President Quirino, and Bagumbayan. (Jose Jemuel Dael, DAR-SK)
