756 Mindoro farmers now landowners

Calapan City – 756 farmers in the provinces of Oriental and Occidental Mindoro are now officially landowners as the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) distributed Certificates of Land Ownership Award (CLOA) on April 25, 2019.

In the ceremony held during the CLOA Distribution cum Awarding of Machineries and Launching of DAR-DSWD Convergence on Livelihood Assistance for Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Project (CLAAP) with Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing at Bulwagang Panlalawigan ng Silangang Mindoro, DAR Secretary John R. Castriciones together with the DAR-MIMAROPA Regional Director Atty. Eugene Follante and other DAR officials and partner agency representatives handed over 756 certificates to farmer beneficiaries.

At yan po ay tanda ng inyong kalayaan”, said Castriciones in his opening message.

The land distributed covers a total area of 622 hectares for the two Mindoro provinces.

Some activities during the day’s event were the unveiling of the CLAAP markers and MOA signing between DAR and DSWD officials and co-operator-leaders of Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organization (ARBO) which officially marked the start of the implementation program in the province of Oriental Mindoro.

Other highlights were the awarding of the 5.4 million worth of farm machineries and awarding of certificates in recognition of contributions and participation of other government agencies on the implementation of the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP).

Mr. Jordan I. Fajardo, the president of the Sitio Lagunlong Community Development Organization (SLCDO),one of the recipients of the farm machineries said, “Bilang pagtugon asahan po ng Department of Agrarian Reform na kami po sampu ng aming mga kasamahan ay patuloy sa paglinang ng lupa at magtataguyod ng pagpapaunlad ng agrikultura”.
