P1.4M DAR-DSWD project turned over in Dinagat Islands

 

PARPO Ma. Elizabeth De Guzman talked before the beneficiaries of CLAAP during the turn-over ceremony in the Tubajon, Province of Dinagat Islands

Dinagat Islands - “We are very grateful that finally, we will receive this project. We will work hard to sustain this project and prove our gratefulness to our government especially to DAR and DSWD for giving us this livelihood project”, said Cepriano T. Membreve, Chairperson of Sta. Cruz Agra-Farmers Consumer Cooperative (SAFCOCO).

This, after a project worth P700,000.00 was handed over by the Department of Agrarian Reform - Surigao del Norte (DAR-SDN) through its Convergence on Livelihood Assistance for ARBs project (CLAAP) last February 17, 2020, in a ceremony held in Brgy. Sta. Cruz Covered Court in Tubajon, Dinagat Islands.

A total of 28 farmer-members of SAFCOCO will benefit the project. These beneficiaries will be managing a rice trading enterprise.

Maria Elizabeth L. De Guzman, Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II of DAR Surigao del Norte, emphasized to the recipients the need to take care and sustain the project given to them. She said that this livelihood enterprise will give opportunity to increase household income of the beneficiaries

Tubajon Mayor Simplicia P. Pedrablanca challenged the recipients to make the project sustainable and productive. She said that this is just one of those opportunities that the government provides intervention to deserving organizations.

Meanwhile, last February 18, 2020, another  P700,000.00  worth of project was also handed to Community Credit Cooperative (COMCRECO) of Brgy. Wilson in San Jose town of Dinagat Islands. The project will benefit 28 farmer-members who will manage a broiler production and marketing enterprise.

Mr. Antonio P. Semporios of Municipal Social Works and Development office of San Jose said that this project is a clear manifestation that convergence among government agencies is working.

CLAAP is a support service providing livelihood projects in the aim of providing additional income to agrarian reform beneficiaries.
