Just cautious of COVID-19

When Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases started to rise in Metro Manila, several measures were implemented to prevent the spread of the dreaded disease.

At the DAR Regional Office 8, among the measures undertaken was the sanitation of the entire workplace after some employees with travel history to different areas in Luzon reported to office when they returned despite orders from the Department of Health (DOH) to undergo a 14-day self-quarantine for “Persons Under Monitoring” (PUM) and “Persons Under Investigation” (PUIs).

PUMs are those with travel history to areas with COVID-19 cases, while PUIs are those experiencing the symptoms.

Further, visitors from different parts of the country dropped by this office few days prior to the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine throughout Luzon, which prompted the management to conduct sanitation throughout the office premises.

Prevention is better than cure, Assistant Regional Director Ma. Fe Malinao stressed. Especially when the disease has no cure.

The 13 DAR-8 employees who were considered PUMs completed the required 14-day quarantine period without developing any symptoms of COVID-19.

As most of the employees at the moment are on “work from home” status due to the implementation of community quarantine by the different local government units, Regional Director Stephen Leonidas likewise emphasized to all to stay at home and be safe. ###
