Women farmers to receive livelihood assistance from DAR

SULTAN KUDARAT--Women farmers here who are agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) will receive livelihood assistance to help mitigate the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on farming households.

The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) is currently helping women ARBs through its project called "The PaSSOver: ARBOld Move to Heal as One Deliverance of our Farmers from Covid-19 Pandemic" or ARBOld Move project for short.

Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer Rodolfo Alburo said the ARBold Move project will extend its support to 1,200 women ARBs nationwide by providing them with livelihood activities, especially in food production such as egg and poultry production, hog fattening, and other similar activities based on their preferences and capabilities to ensure they have food on their tables and products to sell.

To start off the project in Sultan Kudarat, Alburo said the ARBOld Move project has already provided livelihood activities to 15 women ARBs in the province.

The project will allot P15,000.00 for each livelihood undertaking for each woman for a total allocation of P225,000.00.

"We also recently provided livelihood starter kits to five women ARBs in Columbio to help them augment their household income during this difficult time," Alburo said.

Livelihood starter kits amounting to P75,000.00 were extended to five women farmers from the municipality of Columbio. Each received three healthy live goats costing P5,000.00 each.

Ruth Mayo, an ARB recipient, was very thankful for the government for giving her livelihood assistance.

"These goats would give us additional income which my family badly need in these hard times," Mayo said

Alburo said procurement activities are ongoing for the supply and delivery of livelihood starter kits for the next 10 women ARB beneficiaries of the project. The ARBs will be coming from the municipalities of Sen. Ninoy Aquino and Esperanza.

"The provision of livelihood support will contribute to the ARBs' food production and will also be a good source of income for their families," Alburo said.

The ARBOld Move project was initiated by DAR Secretary John Castriciones as answer to President Rodrigo Duterte's call to focus all national agencies' relief operations in helping the Filipino people during this time of great need, in accordance to Republic Act 11649 or the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act.

Mga kababaihang magsasaka tatanggap ng kabuhayan mula sa DAR

SULTAN KUDARAT--Ang mga kababaihang magsasaka na benepisyaryo ng proramang repormang agraryo diro ay tatanggap ng tulong pang-kabuhayan mula sa Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) upang maibsan ang hirap ng pamumuhay sanhi ng pandemya mula sa covid-19.

Sa kasalukuyan, ang DAR ay tumutulong sa mga kababaihang agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) sa pamamagitan ng proyektong "The PaSSOver: ARBOld Move to Heal as One Deliverance of our Farmers from Covid-19 Pandemic" o ARBOld Move sa maikling salita.

Sinabi ni Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer Rodolfo Alburo, na ang proyektong ARBold Move ay magkakaloob ng tulong sa 1,200 kababaihang ARBs sa buong bansa sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay ng gawaing pang-kabuhayan gaya ng produksyon sa pagkain, pagpaparami ng itlog, manukan, babuyan at iba pang maliliit na negosyo base sa kanilang kakayahan upang masegurong ang kanilang pamilya ay may kakainin at may maibebenta rin.

Upang mapasimulan ang proyekto sa Sultan Kudarat, sinabi ni Alburo na ang proyektong ARBOld Move ay nagbigay na ng gawaing pang-kabuhayan sa 15 kababaihang ARBs ng lalawigan.

Naglaan ang proyekto ng P15,000.00 kada isang kabuhayan sa bawat isang babaeng ARB na may kalahatang pondo na P225,000.00 para sa 15 babaeng ARB na tatanggap nito.

"Kamakailan ay nagbigay rin kami ng livelihood starter kits sa limang ARBs sa Columbio upang maka-dagdag sa kinikita ng kani-kanilang pamilya," sabi ni Alburo.

Ang mga livelihood starter kits na nagkakahalaga ng P75,000.00 ay ibinigay sa limang kababaihang ARBs mula sa munisipalidad ng Columbio. Ang bawat isa ay tumanggap ng tatlong malulusog na kambing na nagkakahalaga ng P5,000.00 bawat isa.

Si Ruth Mayo, isang magsasakang tumanggap ng starter kit ay malugod na nagpasalamat sa pamahalaan sa kabuhayang ipinagkaloob sa kanya.

"Sa panahong ito, ang mga kambing na ito ay magbibigay sa pamilya ko ng dagdag na kita na kailangang-kailangan namin ngayon," sabi ni Mayo.

Ayon kay Alburo, ang pagkuha at paghahanda ng mga starter kits ay kasalukuyang ginagawa na ng DAR para sa susunod na 10 kababaihang ARBs na tatanggap nito. Ang mga babaeng magsasaka ay magmumula naman sa munisipalidad ng Sen. Ninoy Aquino at Esperanza.

"Ang pagbibigay ng suportang pang-kabuhayan ay malaking ambag sa produksyon ng pagkain ng mga magsasaka. Makatutulong din itong pang-dagdag sa kita ng pamilya," sabi ni Alburo.

Ang proyektong ARBOld Move ay binuo bilang sagot sa Bayanihan to Heal as One o Republic Act 11469, kung saan iniutos ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa mga sangay ng pamahalaan ang malawakang pagbibigay ng tulong sa kapakanan ng mga tao sa panahong ito ng pandemya.
