DAR Sultan Kudarat completes distribution of food packs and livelihood kits

Isulan, Sultan Kudarat - The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in this province has completed the distribution of P3.1 million worth of food packages to 6,370 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) and livelihood assistance kits worth P225,000 to fifteen (15) women ARBs providing relief ang livelihood activities to ARBs affected by the community quarantine due to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Sultan Kudarat Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Rodolfo T. Alburo said the distribution of relief items is one of the major components of DAR’s nationwide project tagged as The PaSSOver: ARBold Move for Deliverance of ARBs from the COVID-19 Pandemic (ARBold Move) which aims to provide immediate and essential support services to ARBs greatly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Alburo said the DAR-Sultan Kudarat started distributing relief packs May 19, 2020 and was able to finish at the end of the month covering its eleven (11) municipalities.

“The packages, which is just a preliminary assistance for the ARBs, contain rice, noodles, canned goods, mask, vitamins, and bath soap aims to help the families in their everyday lives,” Alburo said.

The DAR-SK also distributed livelihood support kits amounting to P15,000.00 each for every female ARB. This comprises a total allocation of P225,000.00 given to 15 selected women ARBs in the province, in accordance with the “Support to Women in Crisis Situation” component under the ARBold Move Project. This component aims to provide livelihood support and income generation activities for women battling the effects of community quarantine measures brought about by the Covid19 pandemic.

“The livelihood support kits will help them earn income to provide for their respective families during this crisis,” Alburo said.

Crisma G. Quicoy, an ARB recipient of livelihood starter kit from Laguinding, Esperanza expressed her gratitude for the government for including her in the livelihood assistance.

"These goats would give us additional income which my family badly need in these hard times," Quicoy said.

Bhuts Padinding, who was included among the 6,370 beneficiaries from Isulan, expressed his joy and gratitude to the DAR for the relief goods he received and for the never-ending support of DAR to the ARBs of Sitio Kamanga, Laguilayan.

In support to agrarian reform beneficiaries’ organizations (ARBOs) as frontliners in the Supply Chain, DAR-Sultan Kudarat has provided marketing assistance to five (5) ARBOs, by linking them to buyers of their various agricultural products, which include vegetables, fruits, fish and corn. This move enabled the ARBOs to generate combined earnings of P995,564.00. DAR also facilitated the issuance of Quarantine Accreditation Passes to ARBOs and coordinated with the Department of Agriculture and the local government units to ensure smooth passage of the products in checkpoints.

So far, the only aspect of the project waiting to be implemented is the provision of starter kits for farm productivity. This involves the provision of tools, fertilizers and certified vegetable seeds targeted to be distributed to 928 selected ARBs cultivating an average area of 700 square meters of land to ensure steady supply of products in the province. This component will be fully implemented by the 2nd week of June.

The ARBold Move project is a response to Republic Act No. 11469 or the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act, wherein President Rodrigo Roa Duterte directed agencies to provide, protect, and promote the welfare of the people during COVID-19 pandemic.

Isulan, Sultan Kudarat - Tinapos na ng Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) sa lalawigang ito ang pamamahagi ng P3.1 milyong halaga ng mga relief packages sa 6,370 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) at livelihood assistance kits na nagkakahalaga ng P225,000.00 para sa15 kababaihang ARB upang magbigay kaluwagan at tulong pangkabuhayan sa mga ARBs na apektado ng community quarantine dahil sa coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Ayon kay Sultan Kudarat Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer II Rodolfo T. Alburo na ang pamamahagi ng relief items ay isa sa mga pangunahing bahagi ng proyekto ng DAR na tinatawag na The PaSSOver: ARBold Move for Deliverance of ARBs mula sa COVID-19 Pandemic (ARBold Move) na naglalayong magbigay ng agaran at mahahalagang suporta sa mga ARBs na labis na naapektuhan ng pandemya ng COVID-19.

Sinabi ni Alburo na nagsimulang mamahagi ang DAR-Sultan Kudarat ng mga relief packages noong Mayo 19, 2020 at natapos nitong katapusan ng buwan sakop ang labing-isang (11) munisipalidad nito.

"Ang mga relief package, na paunang tulong lamang para sa mga ARB, ay naglalaman ng bigas, noodles, de-lata, mask, bitamina, at sabon ay may layuning makakatulong sa kanilang pang-araw-araw na pamumuhay," sabi ni Alburo.

Samantala, pinamahagi rin ng DAR-SK ang suportang pangkabuhayan na nagkakahalaga ng P15,000.00 sa bawat kababaihang ARB. Ito ay may kabuuang halaga na P225,000.00 na ibinigay sa 15 napiling kababaihang ARB sa lalawigan, alinsunod sa "“Support to Women in Crisis Situation" upang mabigay ng suportang pangkabuhayan at kita sa mga kababaihan na nakikipaglaban sa mga epekto ng Covid19.

"Ang livelihood support kits ay makatutulong sa kanila na magkaroon ng dagdag kita sa panahon ng krisis,” sinabi ni Alburo.

Si Crisma G. Quicoy, isang ARB mula sa Laguinding, Esperanza na tumanggap ng livelihood starter kit ay labis na nagpasalamat sa pamahalaan dahil sa natanggap niyang tulong kabuhayan.

"Ang mga kambing na ito ay magbibigay sa amin ng karagdagang kita na kailangan namin sa mga oras na ito," sabi ni Quicoy.

Si Bhuts Padinding, isa sa 6,370 ARBs mula Isulan, ay nagpahayag ng kanyang kagalakan at pasasalamat sa DAR sa mga relief goods na kanyang natanggap at sa walang sawang suporta ng ahensya sa mga ARB ng Sityo Kamanga, Laguilayan.

Bilang suporta sa mga agrarian reform beneficiaries’ organizations (ARBOs) na tumatayong mga frontliners sa pagsusuplay ng pagkain, ang DAR Sultan Kudarat ay nagkaloob din ng marketing assistance sa limang (5) ARBOs, sa pamamagitan ng paghahanap ng mga mamimili ng kanilang mga produkto tulad ng gulay, prutas, isda at mais. Ang pagkilos na ito ay naging daan upang makalikom ang ARBOs ng P995,564.00 magkakasamang kita. Nagkaloob din ang DAR ng Quarantine Accreditation Passes sa mga ARBOs at nakipag-ugnayan sa Department of Agriculture at lokal na pamahalaan upang maseguro ang maayos na pagdaan ng mga produkto sa mga checkpoints.

Sa kasalukuyan, ang aspeto na lamang ng pagkakaloob ng mga starter kits katulad ng mga kagamitan pangsaka, at mga sertipikadong binhi para sa napiling 928 ARBs, na nagbubungkal ng may 700 metro kwadradong lupa, upang maseguro ang suplay ng mga produkto sa lalawigan, ang naghihintay na maisakatuparan. Ang bahaging ito ay ipapatupad sa pangalawang linggo ng Hunyo.

Ang proyekto ng ARBold Move ay tugon sa Republic Act No. 11469 o ang Bayanihan sa Heal as One Act, kung saan inatasan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte ang mga ahensya ng pamahalaan na magbigay, protektahan, at itaguyod ang kapakanan ng mga tao sa panahon ng pandemya ng COVID-19.
