Some agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) pose together with Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer (MARPO) Tess Pedrosa as they get to be installed as new landowners in an onsite ceremony in E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental, last June 5, 2020.

Fifty-seven agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) were installed as new landowners in a ceremony led by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) – E.B. Magalona Municipal Office, amidst the pandemic, a heroic act as the agency continues to implement its mandate last, June 5, 2020.

Observing the minimum health protocols set by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) and the Department of Health (DOH) in the areas under the Modified General Community Quarantine (MGCQ), Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer (MARPO) Tessie Pedrosa spearheaded the ceremony and in her message, she said: “Maximize the full potential of land awarded to you. Make good use of it and make it productive. Remember to be responsible to pay the land tax on time and the amortizations.”

A total of 8.4493 hectares were distributed to the ARBs involving the landholdings previously managed by the Oval Agricultural Corporation, with OCT/TCT Number T-209824, covered by Lot Number 628-C, with an area of 3.4493 hectares and by the Solitaire Agricultural Corporation with OCT/TCT Number T-209823, covered by Lot Number 628-A, with an area of 5 hectares, both located in Barangay Nanca, E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental.

The said farmer-beneficiaries and their respective families will benefit from the land distributed by DAR through land acquisition and distribution under the CARP-CARPER program through its mandate of redistribution of government and private agricultural lands to landless farmers and farmworkers to secure the farmers' land security, social equity, and provide them with the necessary productive resources needed to ensure their economic viability and productivity. It also covers all tenanted agricultural lands such as those in the retained areas, not yet acquired for distribution under CARP, and those which may be validly covered under existing laws.
