Rubber farmers receive free seedlings, fertilizers worth P12.9-M

BANISILAN, North Cotabato—The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) distributed seedlings and fertilizers for free to a total of 1,195 rubber farmers here to boost their productivity and income.

North Cotabato Provincial Agrarian Reform Provincial Officer Engr. Reynaldo Anfone said the agri-inputs worth P12.9 million were given in the form of seedlings and fertilizers. The agri-inputs were part of the Agricultural Production Intensification and Expansion of Agro-Forestry and Agribusiness Crops Program under the three sub-projects of the DAR Mindanao Sustainable Agrarian and Agriculture Development (MinSAAD) Project.

“These three sub-projects include the rubber production, processing, and marketing; the coffee production, processing and marketing; and the cacao production, processing and marketing which were implemented in 15 barangays of Banisilan,” Anfone said.

In a ceremonial distribution conducted on July 22, 2020, Anfone elaborated that some 166,400 rubber seedlings; 240,000 coffee seedlings; 120,000 cacao seedlings; and 1,600 sacks of fertilizers were turned-over to different DAR-assisted organizations in Banisilan.

Banisilan Mayor Jesus Alisasis, Cotabato Governor Nancy Catamco, and PARPO II Reynaldo Anfone led the symbolic planting of rubber, cacao, and coffee seedlings with the DAR Provincial Inspectorate Member Oding Yusoph as witnessed.

“We are looking forward to an additional 400 hectares for rubber, 400 hectares for coffee, and 200 hectares for cacao to be planted with these seedlings. Making an additional 1000 hectares productive, we are expecting that farmers in Banisilan will increase their productivity and income to uplift their lives from poverty,” Anfone said.

Cotabato Governor Nancy Catamco who served as the guest of honor showed her support to the project and urged the beneficiaries to take good care of the interventions provided to them.

“You have to take good care of the project and sustain it because you are stewards of this project since this was entrusted to you among other potential beneficiaries in Banisilan,” Catamco said.

Catamco also reminded the beneficiaries that the project will have a greater impact on their lives if managed properly.

She also assured the farmer-beneficiaries of her full support in making their lives better together with the efforts of the local leaders and other local and national government agencies.

George Molina of Banisilan Rubber Farmers ARB Cooperative expressed his gratefulness for being chosen as one of the beneficiaries of the project.

Loads of seedlings to be delivered and distributed to farmer-beneficiaries in Banisilan.

“We are fortunate to receive the additional rubber seedlings from DAR-MinSAAD Project. More members of our cooperative will be happy to expand their production areas because of the rubber processing plant given to us by the project. We also encourage everyone to grow more rubber trees,” Molina said.

Molina also shared that they are hoping for a huge volume of rubber cup lumps to be supplied for the sustainable operation of the processing plant with the full support and interventions of the LGU, PLGU, and DAR.

“With this project, we are expecting to have a good price for our rubber products, thereby increasing the profitability and improve the quality of living of the farmers in Banisilan,” Molina said.

Anfone, Cotabato Governor Nancy Catamco, and Banisilan Mayor Jesus Alisasis also led the symbolic planting of rubber, cacao, and coffee seedlings. Board Member Dulia Sultan and Alamada Mayor Jesus Sacdalan were also present during the activity.

Mga magsasaka ng goma tumatanggap ng libreng punla, pataba na nagkakahalaga ng P12.9-M

BANISILAN, North Cotabato— Namahagi ang Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) ng mga libreng punla at pataba sa 1,195 magsasaka ng goma dito upang mapalakas ang kanilang pagiging produktibo at madagdagan ang kanilang kita.

Sinabi ni North Cotabato Provincial Agrarian Reform Provincial Officer Engr. Reynaldo Anfone, na ang mga punla at pataba ay nagkakahalaga ng P12.9 milyon. Ang mga ito ay bahagi ng Agricultural Production Intensification at Pagpapalawak ng Agro-Forestry and Agribusiness Crops Program sa ilalim ng tatlong sub-project ng the Mindanao Sustainable Agrarian and Agriculture Development Project (DAR-MinSAAD).

"Ang tatlong mga sub-proyect ay kinabibilangan ng paggawa ng goma, pagproseso at pagmemerkado; ang paggawa ng kape, pagproseso at marketing; at ang produksyon ng cacao, pagproseso at pagmemerkado na ipinatupad sa 15 na mga barangay ng Banisilan, ” sabi ni Anfone.

Sa isang seremonyal na pamamahagi noong Hulyo 22, 2020, ipinaliwanag ni Anfone na 166,400 binhi ng goma; 240,000 mga punla ng kape; 120,000 punla ng cacao; at 1,600 sako ng mga pataba ay naipamahagi sa iba't ibang mga organisasyon na tinulungan ng DAR sa Banisilan.

"Inaasahan namin ang karagdagang 400 ektarya para sa goma, 400 ektarya para sa kape, at 200 ektarya para sa cacao ay matatamnan ng mga punlang ito. Kapag produktibo na ang karagdang 1,000 ektarya, inaasahan naming ang mga magsasaka sa Banisilan ay tataas ang produktibo at kita upang mai-angat ang kanilang buhay mula sa kahirapan, "Anfone said.

Ang Gobernador ng Cotabato na si Nancy Catamco na nagsilbi bilang panauhin ay nagpakita ng kanyang suporta sa proyekto at hinikayat ang mga benepisyaryo na ingatan ang mga interbensyon na ibinigay sa kanila.

"Kailangan ninyong alagaan ang proyekto at mapanatili ito dahil simula ngayon, kayo na katiwala nito. Ito ay piling ipinagkaloob sa inyo bukod sa iba pang mga potensyal na benepisyaryo ng Banisilan," sabi ni Catamco.

Pinaalalahanan din ni Catamco ang mga benepisyaryo na ang proyekto ay magkakaroon ng mas malaking epekto sa kanilang buhay kung maayos ang pamamahala.

Tiniyak din niya ang kanyang buong suporta sa mga magsasakang benepisyaryo para sa pagpapabuti ng kanilang buhay kasama ang mga pagsisikap ng mga lokal na pinuno at iba pang mga ahensya ng gobyerno.

Si George Molina ng Banisilan Rubber Farmers ARB Cooperative, ay nagpahayag ng kanyang pasasalamat sa pagpili sa kanya bilang isa sa mga makikinabang sa proyekto.

"Masuwerte kaming makatanggap ng karagdagang mga punla ng goma mula sa DAR-MinSAAD Project. Marami pang mga miyembro ng aming kooperatiba ang masayang palawakin ang kanilang mga sakahan dahil sa processing plant na ibinigay sa amin ng proyekto. Hinihikayat din namin ang lahat na magtanim ng maraming puno ng goma,” sabi ni Molina.

Ibinahagi din ni Molina na umaasa sila sa malaking bulto ng rubber cup lumps na ibibigay mula sa supporta at interbensyon ng LGU, PLGU, at DAR para mapanatili ang operasyon ng processing plant.

"Sa proyektong ito, inaasahan naming magkaroon kami ng tamang presyo para sa aming produktong goma, sa gayon ay madaragdagan ang kita at mapabuti ang kalidad ng pamumuhay ng mga magsasaka sa Banisilan," sabi ni Molina.

Pinangunahan din ng Anfone, Cotabato Governor Nancy Catamco, at Banisilan Mayor Jesus Alisasis ang simbolikong pagtatanim ng goma, cacao, at mga punla ng kape. Naroon din sina Board Member Dulia Sultan at Alamada Mayor Jesus Sacdalan.
